Chelsea FC headed to Wales this weekend to take on the mighty Swans of Swansea City in another Premier League match. With the Blues on a bit of a winning streak, fans were hoping of a repeat from the first leg victory at Stamford Bridge (CFC 4-2 Swansea).
There weren’t too many lineup changes with Petr Cech and Filipe Luís holding down starting spots due to injuries to Thibaut Courtois and Ceasar Azpilicueta. Gary Cahill did return to the lineup with Kurt Zouma taking his place black on the bench.
The first half got off to a start with a bang as Cesc Fabregas forced a turnover from Swansea City in their defensive area and Oscar was first to it. From there, Oscar dribbled at their goal without being challenged and took his opportunity to take a shot and buried it just inside Lukas Fabianski’s right post less than a minute into the match.
That was then the signal to open the floodgates as Diego Costa was the recipient of a fine passing move resembling Barcelona’s tiki-taka from their prime. Diego Costa found himself alone inside the penalty box and he made no mistake calmly placing his shot into the back of the net.
More Swansea City turnovers lead to more Chelsea goals as halftime ended with a scoreline of 4-0 in favor of the traveling Blues team. The second half brought a slower pace to the game, especially from Chelsea, and finally Jose decided to make some changes bringing on Ramires, André Schürrle and Loïc Remy.
Andre Schürrle finished the scoring for the day by getting onto the end of a Ivanovic cross. It rounded a Chelsea performance that was deemed perfect by José in his post-match conference. Not a bad review I’d say!
