It may be time to pump the brakes on the Danilo Pantic to Chelsea FC train as the youngster has come out to deny that he has signed with the Blues. Pantic spoke through the official Partizan Belgrade website this week and flat-out denied the he has put pen to paper on “anything with Chelsea”. This is a 180 turn around from his comments earlier in the week where he expressed such excitement at signing with Chelsea even if it meant that he would be going on loan to Vitesse Arnhem.

Danilo Pantic, speaking through the Partizan Belgrade official English site, said “It`s true I`ve been talk of the town lately but I know I didn’t sign anything with Chelsea. They showed interest but no concrete deal was struck. I`m still Partizan player with five more months of contract, focused on preps. Early part of winter training is extremely fierce and you need a clear head to go through it”.
We reported that the deal was done and of course the player himself confirmed it but nothing official came out. Neither Chelsea FC or Partizan Belgrade announced it on their respective sites or social media accounts but they are often hours or days behind “official” reports from major news outlets. These outlets usually report that a deal is done and either the agent of the player or the player himself will confirm or deny the reports.
Players can sometimes reveal the deals as well before they are officially announced. For example, ahead of Wilfried Bony’s move from Swansea City to Manchester City, the Ivorian striker posted a photo of himself holding a City shirt with his name and number on it before it was officially announced. City of course quickly announced the move and there was no controversy about the photo. However it is funny that in this day and age a player can break transfer news to millions of people around the world with a few taps on his smartphone before his new club can put together an official statement.
What likely happened in the case of Danilo Pantic was that his agent told him that the deal was done and he understandably got very excited. Some media members asked him for his thoughts on the pending transfer and he spoke too soon before it was made official and the terms were 100% agreed upon by both clubs.

The January transfer window is closing shortly so both parties should do well to finalize the deal in the coming days so the youngster can begin his career at Chelsea FC. Whether that includes a pit-stop at Cobham to see the Academy and the facilities or if he will be sent straight to Vitesse Arnhem is probably still to be decided.
