Chelsea FC travel to Paris Tuesday night to take on defending Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint Germain at the Parc de Princes. Ahead of the game, and assuming that not many people have been keeping that closer an eye on the French side of affairs, let’s take a look at PSG’s recent form.

Since the turn of the year PSG have played six Ligue 1 matches. However, the going hasn’t been all that good. In those six games the Parisians have racked up just three victories, drawing two and losing the one. This is the kind of form that leaves them in 3rd place, two points adrift of league leaders Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) and a far cry from the dominant nine point lead they finished the 2013/14 season with. Further to this, two of those wins were by one goal to nil over Saint-Etienne and Rennais (although in fairness, they were the better team in both games).
The two draws have come in their last two meetings against Lyon and Caen. While the Lyon game is excusable, Caen were a team one point off the relegation zone sitting in 15th place at the time that PSG faced them and thus that result could definitely be regarded as two points dropped. The loss came against SC Bastia who managed to overturn a two goal deficit to win the match 4-2. This from a team who were one removed from the bottom at that point.
PSG will be looking to get back to the best against Chelsea tomorrow night
However, taking all competitions into account makes for better reading on their behalf. In the same time frame, they have taken the field eleven times, still losing only the once and drawing two. That sounds more menacing right? None of these cup opponents were by any means trivial and it did feature a win over Lille just under a fortnight ago to take them to the League Cup Final.
Then again, their last four games have included the two draws but this may do nothing but make them a more difficult opposition. On the back of a mediocre run of form, PSG will be looking to get back to their best against Chelsea Tuesday night, and this may just present the boys in (the lighter shade of) blue with an even tougher opponent.

So, what do you think? PSG’s form has been average (leaning on dreadful in the league), especially for a club with their resources and stature. Will this matter come kick-off though? Does the gravity of the occasion throw the form book out of the window? Sound off in the comments below!
