Another Wembley Final For Chelsea FC

During Roman Abramovich’s reign at Chelsea FC, the club have played many important matches at Wembley Stadium, headquarters of the English Football Association. Since 2003, Chelsea have won 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, and 2 FA Community Shields. In that time, Chelsea FC’s legendary forward Didier Drogba has scored in nearly every one of those matches, scoring 9 goals in 9 Cup Finals for the Blues.

More from The Pride of London

Drogba clearly has an excellent record of scoring in important games, and he also has a history scoring against Spurs. In the same 2012 FA Cup campaign, Drogba led the Blues to a 5-1 against Spurs. If he gets the chance to play against Spurs in the Capital One Cup Final, I expect to see another goal from the big Ivorian that will help Chelsea FC to lift another trophy.

I believe that Jose Mourinho will still trot out Diego Costa as our striker to start the match, both in an effort to get him scoring following his 3 match ban, and because the experience of playing at Wembley in a Cup final is something special. For the £32M striker, it will be his first chance at silverware with Chelsea, and everyone will be hoping he is instrumental in capturing it.

Chelsea FC Team News

Chelsea will be without star midfielder Nemanja Matic, after a horrific tackle from Burnley’s Ashley Barnes went unpunished and Matic responded by shoving the Claret’s defender. Matic was shown a straight red by referee Martin Atkinson, while Barnes was unpunished. The FA retroactively lowered the automatic 3 game suspension to just 2 games, but the Blues will still be without Matic for this final. It is a big loss for Chelsea, but the Blues should be able to overcome it.

Predicted Result

Chelsea FC 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Drogba scores again and the Blues lift yet another Cup under Roman Abramovich and Jose Mourinho, the clubs first trophy since 2013 and first of the 2nd Jose Mourinho era. Beating Spurs is always an excellent time, so if we can beat Spurs at Wembley, again, winning a trophy would just be icing on top of the cake!
