Chelsea FC defender Gary Cahill spoke to the media ahead of the Blues’ clash with Hull City on Sunday and said that they need a “convincing win” for their confidence. After losing to PSG on away goals in the Champions League round of 16 and drawing with Southampton despite having a handful of golden chances to win, the Blues are certainly in need of a confidence boost.

Even the most casual of observers can see that something is not quite right with Chelsea FC as they have stuttered in recent matches. They do not look like a side that won the League Cup or one that has been top of the Premier League table since the start of the season. Instead they look like a side that is struggling to find their form in the stretch run of a season that could see them win a domestic double.
Gary Cahill on needing a convincing win:
"“We’re desperate… not desperate, it’s the wrong word – we’re looking for the next convincing win, the next win, to get us back up and running. We should be going out playing with freedom and not feeling the pressure. We should be going out and enjoying it. I think that comes with winning games. The next win I’m sure is just around the corner for us.”"
If Chelsea FC was playing the way that they were early on in the season, showing attacking verve and blowing away opponents, then this title race would already be over. If not over mathematically then it would have been over in theory as the Blues could be anywhere from 8 to 11 points up with a game in hand.

Instead they sit in a comfortable but slightly precarious as the other sharks in the Premier League waters begin to circle. Manchester City have not looked the part of serious challengers but they had their own share of chances to blow away Burnley last week and move within four points of the Blues. Arsenal are also just seven points behind and they are still set to face the Blues on April 26th. That match is also at the Emirates so they will have the backing of their supporters as they try to hunt down Chelsea FC.
Something needs to change in the Blues dressing room and a big confidence boosting win may just be the cure. Chelsea FC faces one of the worst teams in the Premier League in Hull City and if we have done anything this season it has been beating up on the bottom of the table teams in the league. The Blues need to right the ship to get back on course for the title and a handful of goals against Hull is the perfect start.
