Chelsea FC: Kevin De Bruyne ‘Open’ To Making Return

There have been talks of Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne, possibly returning to Chelsea FC after a very successful season at Wolfsburg. The likelihood of this happening is disappointingly slim as it would most likely happen if they did not qualify for Champions League, where Wolfsburg already sit comfortably at 2nd in the Bundesliga. Still, the club has some outstanding debts that need to be paid and it may be forced to sell one of its prized assets.

De Bruyne has had a very impressive spell at the German club, netting 14 goals and assisting in 16 goals just this season. The Belgian has been magnificent, and it is not going unseen. Kevin De Bruyne has not only been eyed up by Chelsea FC for a return, but also Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris St Germain, and of course, fellow German club, Bayern Munich.

The 23 year old is weighing up all options. Staying at Wolfsburg seems the most likely of these, but De Bruyne seems to want a return to England if he were to leave Germany. Old Trafford and the Etihad are both clear options for the Belgian, but Stamford Bridge are hoping to welcome back De Bruyne with open arms.

His first spell with Chelsea was not very memorable as he barely made any impact with the club. He spent the first half season he was a Chelsea player on loan with his original club Genk. Then he joined the Blues on the summer preseason tour but was sent to Werder Bremen in order to play more.

He again joined the Blues for the summer tour after excelling at Werder Bremen and looked ready to fight for a place in the team. Unfortunately Jose Mourinho was not a big fan of De Bruyne and sold him off to Wolfsburg for a decent profit. There was no report of a rift between player and manager but it was clear that Mourinho thought he was surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Kevin De Bruyne has been an absolute sensation in Germany, and is one of the main pieces to an ever growing Wolfsburg, who are slowly becoming a powerhouse in the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg currently sit in second place, below Bayern Munich, but have been clipping at their heels. Seeing as the Belgian is playing a massive role at the club, it is hard to see how they would let him go any time soon.
