In a West London rivalry match, Chelsea FC will be without star striker Diego Costa as the Blues head to Loftus Road. With QPR being awful this season, a trip across West London doesn’t sound very intimidating.

QPR sits in the relegation zone, 3 points behind Sunderland from the last safe spot in the Premier League. A win against Chelsea, combined with a loss by Sunderland would go a ways to keep them in the top flight, and QPR have gotten a boost given Diego Costa’s absence.

Yet, Chelsea FC are still heavily favored, and former QPR forward Loic Remy will most likely get the nod at forward at Loftus Road. Remy played in 16 matches for the R’s, scoring 6 goals in 2013-14 before joining Newcastle United on loan.

Jose Mourinho has been building up Loic Remy lately, although he hasn’t officially announced a starter yet it would seem most likely that Remy would be the starter as he was last weekend against Stoke City. Remy netted the winner in that match, as well as the previous match against Hull City as a sub. When speaking of his ability to score those key goals despite no regular playing time, Mourinho explained “it is because he works fantastically well even when he is not playing”.

"‘Even week after week when he was on the bench and Diego was starting matches, he pushed himself always to the limits to be in condition to answer when the right moment arrived. Some players when they are not playing, the level of focus and commitment and training goes down, so after that when the team needs them they are not there for the team. Remy is a professional with a great profile, every time working very hard and when he was playing, whether scoring or not scoring, he was always there for the team.” – Jose Mourinho on Loic Remy"

Chelsea FC should be heavily favored against QPR, and a Blues win will put them one step closer to securing the title and one step closer to sending QPR down to the Football League Championship.

Chelsea FC Team News

Diego Costa will miss the match through injury to his hamstring, which was aggravated against Stoke City after just 11 minutes on the pitch following his introduction to the game at halftime. Cesc Fabregas will play wearing a face mask following his broken nose, and both Fabregas and Nemanja Matic are one yellow card away from suspension for accumulation, with a match against Manchester United at home and a trip to Arsenal coming up.
