David de Gea

The only goalkeeper on the list, but he has undoubtedly been the best goalie of the Premier League. The transfer rumours linking him to Real Madrid are surely a detriment to this fact. His best game of the season may have been an early one against Everton where he faced 6 shots on target and made 3 big saves to preserve the victory for his team.

Manchester United have been involved in a lot of ugly, grind-out wins this season – something that they are not normally accustomed to doing – and De Gea has been the X-factor in all of those close matches. However, as it was seen at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in February, when Neuer was nominated, De Gea may get lots of votes since he’s popular but he’s unlikely to win since the emphasis in football is very much on attacking players these days.
