Even Pochettino was reluctant to make him a first-team striker, considering he’s only 21. However, in his first full year with the team, he currently leads the Premier League in goals. He has become a hero not just in North London, but throughout the country when he got his first ever England call-up and scored just 20 seconds into his debut.
He has also propelled his team to wins that they usually never get over Chelsea and Arsenal this season. His performance this season has been so remarkable, many Spurs fans have been saying “Bale who?” Many have thought he would drop in form or that his league lead in goals would be overtaken, however he has remained consistent throughout the season.
While his goals have been the biggest reason for the club’s success this season, Tottenham still sit in seventh in the Premier League table. At the very least, he should win the Young Player of the Year. But unless he can propel his team to a Champions League spot, he won’t take home the Player of the Year award, which brings us to our last candidate…
