Chelsea FC Face Leicester City, Is It A Trap Game?

After drawing with Arsenal, Chelsea F.C. are two wins away from being crowned Premier League Champions once again. Wins against Leicester City and Crystal Palace in the next week, and the Blues are Champions. There is another pretty important storyline at play in this fixture as Leicester City and Chelsea FC  battle on Wednesday.

Besides Chelsea having one hand on the trophy, Leicester City is in a heated battle to stay in the Premier League. Currently the Foxes are one point above Sunderland in the relegation zone. After a huge 1-0 win over Burnley, the Foxes swapped places with Sunderland who drew with Stoke City.

In the Blue’s first matchup with Leicester City in August, they toughed out a 2-0 win with goals coming in from Diego Costa and, newly crowned Premier League Player of the Year, Eden Hazard. Leicester were incredibly tough and played Chelsea well in the first half.

The winners of the lower-division Championship last year, gave the Blues defense all they could handle in the first half. It was Chelsea’s second game of the season and after a win over Burnley, it was nice to start the season 2-0. Chelsea would go on to win 4 straight before a draw with Manchester City.

Leicester’s fate has been a little different, although scrappy throughout the season, beating Manchester United and drawing against Arsenal, Leicester City find themselves with only 31 points and in deep trouble of being relegated. With a massive game coming up against Sunderland, the Foxes cannot afford to drop any further in the table amidst the heated battle to stay in the Premier League.

There is not much pressure on Chelsea FC in this game. Should they come away with three points, they’re just closer to the winning the league. Should they draw, they just have more work to do. However, should they lose, they’ll only make things more difficult on themselves. They only need 5 points in the next 5 games, all of which are winnable, to clinch a first place finish. When Chelsea do win the league, they are going to become the first Premiere League team in a decade to win the league while making a profit in the transfer market. Another amazing accomplishment for José Mourinho and the boys this season.

Chelsea should go onto win this game and win against Crystal Palace, this would have the Blues grasping a trophy by next Sunday. However, it would be a mistake to overlook Leicester City, a team who is scraping and clawing to keep their place in the top league in England should not be taken lightly. They have won 4 straight and are in the hunt to stay alive for next season.

With the new TV deal agreed upon this year, there is lucrative money for those who have staying power in the Premier League. The Foxes will not roll over, and the Blues will have to work to regain the old trophy and bring it home. It’s just a matter of when and where we’ll see John Terry and José Mourinho grasp the beauty again.
