‘Boring boring Chelsea’ sang the Arsenal support after their Gunner’s 0-0 draw with the Blues on Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s team had come to the Emirates and left with what they needed, suppressing their closest competitors for 90 minutes and all but securing the Premier League. Think of the match like a second leg in Europe, where all Chelsea FC needed to advance was a draw thanks to their performance in the 33 games prior.
Starting with a striker less formation due to third-choice option Didier Drogba still recovering from an injury did take its toll on Chelsea FC’s offensive effort but the organized defense led by John Terry quelled any Arsenal attack once it got within 25 yards of goal.
The Blues are now potentially one week away from the title while Arsenal and their beautiful, high-flying football must settle for their 12th straight Champions League qualification trophy.
Let’s go through the player ratings of the Blues on Sunday, 6 of whom (should be 7, Coutinho!?) were elected to the PFA’s team of the year.
