Chelsea FC Fans Must Not Celebrate Yet – Jose Mourinho

Just a few months after criticizing the fans at Stamford Bridge for not being loud and passionate enough, Chelsea FC boss Jose Mourinho implored them to support their team and come out with full voice on Sunday. Mourinho asked the fans after the victory against Leicester city that they do not come out against Crystal Palace just to celebrate the Premier League title.

He spoke to Sky Sports, as quoted by the Sports Review, and said, “I think it was a very good performance, a very good victory, and now I think Stamford Bridge instead of celebrating, Stamford Bridge has to be ready to push the team next Sunday. We need to win and we need Stamford Bridge not to be celebrating the title, because we do not have the title, we need Stamford Bridge to push us strong to the three points we still need.”

It will be hard for the fans at Stamford Bridge to contain themselves given the circumstances but Mourinho is right. Chelsea FC have both hands on the trophy but will not be able to lift it unless they win on Sunday and will not actually lift it until the final day against Sunderland.

They will of course have three other chances to do so but winning it at home would be the perfect scenario. What is better than celebrating a title in front of your home fans and then forcing one of your most bitter rivals in Liverpool to give you an honor guard in the following match?

After the Leicester City match, the Chelsea players went over to the away end and acknowledged the excellent support they received from the away fans. The fans gave one of the best moments of the matched as they chanted sarcastically “Boring Boring Chelsea” just before Ramires’s beautiful goal. This was in response to Arsenal fans chanting the same thing at Chelsea on Sunday but with more bitterness than sarcasm.

The Chelsea supporters the season have gone through some serious trials after being criticized by the manager and vilified for the incident on the Paris Metro. Some fans have criticized their fellow supporters for not cheering for the Blues with all their hearts because they are “tourists” and not true fans.

This is not the time for the discussion of the true credentials of some fans but rather it is a time for celebration for everyone who claims Chelsea FC as their club. What is a club without their supporters? Nothing but 11 men wearing the same outfit playing a silly game.

The fans at Stamford Bridge may not heed Mourinho’s instructions as they will come to the ground ready for a coronation and a party at Crystal Palace’s expense. However they can be excused for not listening to the manager’s call but they will be heart and soul behind their team.
