What a year to celebrate for Chelsea FC. Winning the Premier League is the ultimate goal for so many teams, and the Blues were able to be the most consistent, great team across the league this year. For being able to do that in a classy manor, the Blues deserve respect around the league.
Captain John Terry and veteran striker Didier Drogba believe the Blues deserve more respect then they’re getting for their complete and consistent season. “We have to give the players and the manager some respect. What the manager has done in two years with these players has been different class” said Terry to Sky Sports.
It isn’t easy to stay good enough over a period of time to win a league like Chelsea are doing. They were unbelievable over the first half of the year, and even when they weren’t playing great the first part of 2015, they got points out of matches that they had to work for.
“We were the best side by far up until Christmas. Okay we have had to grind out results, but the players and manager deserve a lot of respect, we have been very good all year.” Terry
The players know it, the manager knows it, and the fans know it. Chelsea have been the best team all year long. Their stifling defense stops attacking teams like Arsenal in their tracks, and with goal scorers around the pitch they can put up goals when they need them, they’re complete. But they deserve respect for battling through injuries and still playing well.
They don’t make excuses like United fans that “Carrick is hurt”. Or that they just didn’t start playing well together till midway through the year and that’s why they aren’t champions, Arsenal fans. Aside from some complaining about the referees decisions, which were terrible, Chelsea have just buckled down, and won.

Being able to stay consistent amidst pressure and injuries is the sign of a great team. To have the ability to stay at the top of the league this long is an ode to Mourinho and his ability to game plan when when things aren’t going his way with the referees, or when Costa’s hamstring is less dependable then a frayed rope bridge.

The squad have been great when there has been hope for Man City, or Arsenal to catch them. They always grab a result in big Premier League games when they need to. With only 2 losses all year they deserve the respect of fellow teams and the public. To do that is unbelievable, even if you are playing “boring football”, sarcasm.
Winning is beautiful, having a league leading goal differential of 41 goals is beautiful, and having not lost to Arsenal, Manchester City, United, or Southampton all season long is beautiful. This team have worked hard, overcome injuries, and controversies throughout the season.
If playing hard and winning doesn’t deserve respect, I’m not sure what does. They haven’t played an ounce of dirty football all season, they haven’t been classless in defeat, mostly, and they’re a fun team to watch play soccer together. Drogba and Terry are champions, they are calling for the respect of their team, and they deserve every bit of it.
