Premier League Picks – Matchday 35: CFC Musical Edition

Chelsea FC fans are not always original, but they sure are cheeky. Just look at our songs. We’ve found a way to piss off all our rivals in one way or another:

“Keep the blue flag flying high” is just a rip off of Manchester United’s “We’ll never die”

The Eden Hazard song, to the melody of “Que Sara Sara”, is a rip off of Liverpool’s Stevie G song, but then we also have the Demba Ba song to the same melody which slags him off (Actually both our songs include Gerrard’s name).

The Willian song was written because he’s awesome and we stole him from Tottenham, and now, long overdue, the great fans of the Blues have concocted “Fabregas is Magic”, throwing their middle finger up at the Gunners by ripping off “Arsene Wenger’s Magic”. So click the link and sing along:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!

Fabregas is Magic, he wears a magic hat. He could have signed for Arsenal, but he said no f*ck that.

He passes with his left foot, he passes with his right, and when we win the league AGAIN, we’ll sing this song all night.

On a side note, as a long time Cheslea FC supporter there are just some things you’d think you’d never see as long as you live. Two weekends ago after Chelsea won the United game 1-0, I saw John Terry and Cesc Fabregas embracing, and for just a brief moment I thought hell had frozen over…but I digress.

Chelsea v. Crystal Palace

Diego Costa is out, Remy will play as per Jose Mourinho’s pre match press conference. Chelsea will be able to attack with pace for an entire 90 minutes. With Drogba up top the Blues were relying on quick sucker punches. In either case, expect the 11 Chelsea players name to Sunday’s starting line up to play as if they were shot out of a canon. The Eagles have lost a little motivation having lost back to back games against bad teams. Chelsea will be a frate train, and the Bridge will be electric.

Call this a homer pic. CYOB

Pick: Chelsea wins by 2 or more (-120)

Leicester v. Newcastle

Leicester are on the ascendancy and determined to stay in the top flight. Newcastle fans are campaigning to get Mike Ashley to sell their beloved club to an owner who is committed to winning. They’ve taken their frustrations out on the players and manager. The Magpies are drowning, and instead of a life preserver, they’ve been thrown a cinder block.

Pick: Leicester City (-110)

Aston Villa v. Everton

Everton don’t look like they’re in the mood to lose at the moment. From a fundamentals stand point they are a very strong team. Martinez plays a 4-2-3-1 and has the perfect compliment of players to fit his shape. Anyone who watched them dismantle United last weekend will attest. They would have been better earlier but as we’ve seen in seasons past the Europa League plays havoc domestically with the teams in that competition. Now that they’ve been absolved, the Toffees are really starting to shine. Villa are running into a buzz saw.

Pick: Everton (+170)

RANDOM FOOTY FACT: Man City have not won an away game in the Premier League when trailing at halftime in 20 years (87 games)

Tottenham v. Man City

Not a single Manchester City player made the PFA team of the year. But their main talisman is still leading the race for the Golden Boot. Kun Aguero has 9 goals in 6 career games against the Spurs. He loves playing them. Take him to score again. Harry Kane has gone cold after his International debut but they’ve probably worn the young lad out.

Pick: Aguero to score anytime (-120)

Manchester United v. West Brom

Wayne Rooney is a doubt for this game and may be out for the season, after picking up a late knee injury on Sunday, and that should be a big worry. United have not scored in their past 2 matches. Everton and Chelsea sat deep against them and let them have possession, just not any meaningful possession. If you think Mourinho can frustrate teams, meet Tony Pulis.

Pick: under 2.5 goals (+100)

Last Matchday’s record: 3-2 (+3.9 units)

Overall: 45-42 (+12.2 units)
