Jose Mourinho to Manchester United? Dream On

While the Chelsea FC faithful celebrate the club’s fifth Premier League crown, some people still must find nonsense to print in the media. Despite his contract extension with Chelsea, said to be a potential two year deal extension to BBC Sport, Stan Collymore declared via Bleacher Report his prediction that the Portuguese is still setting Manchester in his sights.

Collymore wrote, “I do believe-in two moves’ time-he will manage Manchester United because he really wants to. But he has to prove to the United board he is not a chequebook manager, he wants to bring through youth players and he has an exciting style of play.”

Essentially, Jose Mourinho is working toward league titles, league cups, and Champions League berths just to impress Manchester United. I can feel West London figuratively rolling their eyes all at once to this claim. If you can remember, journalists across Europe wrote about how ‘distraught’ Mourinho was when David Moyes was hired as United manager, and not himself.

Jose has since denied these accusations as he is “The Happy One” since he is back at Stamford Bridge. I may be a Chelsea supporter and refuse to think of Jose ever leaving for another English club, but when it comes down to it, it’s not in his nature to leave Chelsea for Manchester.

It is his chance to stay at a club longer than 5 years and build a legacy that will truly be looked upon as one of the great dynasties in European football. It has only just begun with his 3rd Premier League title. According to RTE Sport, Mourinho revealed prior to the League Cup final, if Chelsea no longer required his services, he would consider moving to another English club.

He also said, “”I don’t want to go away. I will stay here in this chair until Mr. Abramovich tells me ‘Jose, it’s enough’. If one day he tells me ‘Jose it’s enough’ I will go to my house in London and I wait for another English club. When I left the first time I had lots of countries to go to and lots of clubs to go to. In this moment when I leave I have another 19 clubs in the Premier League and 22 clubs in the Championship. So the options are not so much. But I repeat I am in Mr. Abramovich’s hands. Until he wants me to stay, I will stay – and that is what I want. I am not thinking about leaving, I want to stay at Chelsea for the rest of my career.”

That quote might as well be printed in Chelsea Blue, because it certainly sounds to me as if he is in it for the long haul, and SW6 will remain his domain for potentially the rest of his career. Personally, I can see Jose leaving Chelsea after he has won more titles, both European and domestic, to manage the Portuguese National Team, but certainly not the Red Devils. Jose Mourinho has nothing to prove to Chelsea. He has their full support, and he believes in the club’s vision. Buckle up Manchester United, Jose is going nowhere.
