Chelsea FC: Petr Cech Negotiating With Besiktas
We appear to have reached a new twist in the Petr Cech transfer saga. The Chelsea FC goalkeeper has most recently been linked with a move to Turkish club Besiktas after being linked in the past to clubs all over Europe.
This rumor began to circulate several months ago after Chelsea FC and Besiktas were rumored to have entered a partnership where Blues players would be sent to Turkey on loan. This particular rumor involving Cech is substantiated by his Viktor Kolar who confirmed to the Evening Standard that he was in talks with the club. Obviously being in talks or negotiations is more than a few steps from a transfer actually happening but it appears to be more than just an empty rumor.
Arsenal and Liverpool also reportedly came sniffing around for the world-class keeper but as José Mourinho said earlier this week there is no way that Cech will be allowed to move to a club in England. Marino actually said that he would prefer for Cech to stay with Chelsea FC for another season but it appears to be a foregone conclusion and that he will leave in the summer.
Cech’s primary motivation at this point is to be able to play regular first-team football to maintain his place in the Czech Republic team before the Euro 2016 Tournament. We are not too familiar with the goalkeeper situation for the Czech Republic but we would be hard-pressed to believe that there is a better alternative to Petr Cech waiting in the wings even if he only plays once or twice a month for his club.

At this point all of that is irrelevant if Cech himself has made up his mind that he wants to move on. Mourinho has said that the club will do everything they can for Cech but it seems odd that he would want to make a move to the Turkish league.
He would be the number one keeper for the club next season but he may not be playing for them in the Champions League. Besiktas is currently third in the Turkish table behind Fenerbahce and Galatasary and are in contention for a Champions League playoff place but look more primed for a Europa League spot.
While Besiktas here may be a powerhouse in Turkey and one of the more high-profile clubs there it is certainly not among the top clubs in Europe where a keeper of Cech’s caliber should be plying his trade. It will be interesting to see if Cech actually makes a move there or if they are using the club for leverage.
