You would think that after not getting much playing time and then being sold off to another club that Andre Schurrle would harbor some sort of ill will towards Chelsea FC. Some players would be upset at not getting a true chance to play in the first team but most players do not have the character and respect for the club that our second favorite German does.
Schurrle was asked what he thought of the club after it was reported that he would stll be receiving a winner’s medal for the Premier League and League Cup. The winger told the BBC, “It can be difficult to get first team football because you have so many good players. I think I took my chances very well because normally every time I got playing time I did something good and I scored.”
He was also asked if he could have done anything different to have improved his chances of getting in to the first team or if Jose Mourinho should have given him more chances to impress. Schurrle responded, “The manager doesn’t need to change anything because the team is winning, then it’s very difficult. You just have to be clear in your head and take the chances when they come.”
Finally, after being told of some of the players that Chelsea FC might be chasing, including Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Koke, he said, “If you have the chance, you have got to go there.”

It was clear from the beginning that Andre Schurrle was not coming to Chelsea FC just for the money or even just for the chance to add some trophies to his mantle. He made it obvious that he had a true love for the club and that he had dreamed of playing for Chelsea ever since he saw his hero Michael Ballack pull on the blue kit.
Schurrle even spoke to Ballack about the prospect of playing for Chelsea and it was the former German captain that helped convince him to make the move to Stamford Bridge. The World Cup winner admitted that part of his decision to leave Chelsea was to go somewhere that he could play regularly in order to stay in the conversation for a place in the German national team.
Manager Joachim Loew advised Schurrle to make a move elsewhere and where better to go than right under his national team manager’s nose in the Bundesliga. He has struggled to find a regular place in the Wolfsburg lineup as well but with a full preseason to adapt to the team he should find his feet there soon enough.
Schurrle obviously has the talent to be a world class player and may one day truly become one in the Bundesliga and for Germany. It is just a shame that he will not be making that leap as a member of Chelsea Football Club.
