Chelsea FC: At this Point, Even Defeats Are Fun

Chelsea F. and manager Jose Mourinho have once again been the lovable villains for Chelsea fans in their 3-0 defeat at West Brom. Even watching them lose and look terrible was enjoyable. Knowing that they had already won and clinched the Premier League made the game fun no matter what the result.

It all started with a great goal by West Brom and a couple of missed opportunities by Chelsea. After the scoring had started Cesc decided to up the story and make the game a tad more interesting to take part in.

It all started with what else, Diego Costa got into a tussle with the back line and it escalated to a larger issue when both teams came together and started tussling. It seemed as if the whole thing was going to settle down after a bit. Everyone had gotten their wits about them and the ref was sorting everything out. Then good ole Cesc decided he would go get the ball from the other side of the penalty box, set it up on the ground, and kick it into the group of players.

You read that correctly. Cesc Fabregas, star midfielder of Arsenal, Barcelona, and now Chelsea stooped down to the level of our younger siblings and kicked a ball towards people because he was mad. Absolutely hilarious to watch. I could not believe it actually happened when I first saw it.

Of course it escalated and the West Brom players ran over to Cesc and the ref had to intercede once again. In the end the Spanish midfielder was sent off for his hilariously childish actions and the Blues were down to ten men for the rest of the game.

Had this sequence happened earlier in the season I would have been infuriated that Cesc got sent off for something so foolish. I was laughing when this happened since we had already won the league. I still believe it was too harsh for what he did, but I understand that he deserved to be punished for what had happened in the game.

The point is that it was such an interesting experience to watch a game knowing that the team you root for has already been crowned champion. It was such a fun experience! I had no care as to what happened in the 90 minutes. Short of a riot happening, I was happy with anything going on during the game. It was all gravy to already winning the league. Seeing some young players get some playing time, as well as Costa coming back, was really great to see.

Even though Chelsea got taken to task for the third Premier League loss of the season, it was still an enjoyable game to watch. Strange to enjoy a loss as a fan, yet as a fan of the Blues I was still basking in the glory of clinching a Premier League championship. Somehow, even losing was fun today. Premier League Champions!
