Chelsea FC held their annual end of season awards on Tuesday night (more on which can be found here) during which Jose Mourinho seized the opportunity to hit back at all the criticisms his Blues side has faced in this campaign.

Starting his speech, Mourinho said: ‘Last year we were third, we were not happy but we respected the winners in spite of us beating them twice. They deserved to be champions. In spite of us beating the second position team twice, we also said they deserved to be there.’
The Premier League Manager of the Year
then went on to treat the audience to a ‘fiction story’. I would explain it in writing but it simply wouldn’t have the same effect and this clip is well worth five minutes of your time:
After Louis Van Gaal’s classic ramble, the Chelsea boss has seemed to have opened some sort of managerial competition to one-up each other with regard to slightly/very drunk spontaneous award ceremony speeches.
Though to be fair Jose, the use of animations showed that this was a very well prepared act (perhaps even days in the making) and it’s hard to even disagree too much with what he’s saying. After all, he is the one surrounded by two pieces of silverware which is more than what could be said about Liverpool, both Manchester clubs and potentially even Arsenal should they fall to Aston Villa this Saturday.
One day Mourinho will retire, and football will be that much less entertaining without him.
