I may be getting some stick for this, but stats can’t lie. Hazard is not only a fan favourite, but personally he is fast becoming one of my all time favourite players. He has developed a lot since he joined the West London side.

The Belgian has been in top form all through the season where at times he pulled the strings himself all through the game where the whole team seemed out of ideas. Post New year, many pivotal players such as Fabregas and Costa went missing due to tiredness and suspensions and injuries respectively.

At such a time, Chelsea needed someone to take the charge and Hazard took the challenge and carried Chelsea through some very tough and gritty matches and that too helped them to win maximum points which played a huge role in wrapping up the title with 3 games to spare.

But, as much as we love him and want to compare him with the best in the contemporary, according to his stats he still has a long way to go to even catch up to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi. Hazard’s 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions is not even close to Ronaldo and Messi who have scored a combined 117 goals this season. They have practically scored in almost every game they have played this season.

Hazard needs to improve a lot if he is to be considered one of the best in the world. Yes, he is on course for the same and his age is on his side so it can be said in the near future we may see in him on the same podium with likes of Ronaldo and Messi. Topping the dribbling and take ons charts are good but what matters the most are the goals and assists. Hazard has a long way to go and we Chelsea fans are happy that his development will be happening at Stamford Bridge.
