Chelsea FC winger Victor Moses spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Stoke City and it appears that he as impressed all the right people at the club. Moses was an integral part of the Potters’ squad for much of the season before suffering a hamstring injury against West Ham. Scans revealed that the damage was more severe than initially believed and Moses was sent back to Chelsea for treatment.
Before his season ending injury, Moses was playing at a very high level for a suddenly dynamic Stoke City side. They were once known for employing only lumbering giants like Peter Crouch and Robert Huth and seemed to have no place in their squad for players under 6’5″. Under Tony Pulis they were known most for their physical style of their play and as a result of their height, their aerial prowess off set pieces and long balls.
Under Mark Hughes, they have maintained an element of that brute strength but have paired it with some fantastic skill and flair players. They have snatched up some misfits from big clubs such as Bojan Krkic from Barcelona, Moses from Chelsea FC, and Mame Biram Diouf from Manchester United to form an impressive and skillful attacking unit.
With this new flair and style, Stoke finished 9th in the Premier League table with 54 points and were never in the relegation conversation. Moses was a big part of that achievement as he contributed three goals and three assists to the cause.
All of his goals were vital to Stoke’s point total as he secured them two wins against Aston Villa and Everton and played his role in a draw against West Ham. If your math is a bit off then that shows his goals alone were worth 7 points to Stoke City this season.

As for his assists, they were worth four points as he assisted the winner against Newcastle and the equalizer against QPR. Without the Chelsea FC winger’s contributions, Stoke could have finished in the bottom six and could have been tied up in the late season relegation battle.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes knows that Moses was a vital member of the squad and he acknowledged that he wanted him back at the Brittania. He told the Stoke Sentinel, “It was good to see Victor back at the ground for the final game of the season. I thought it was important he came, along with Bojan, because they have obviously played their part in our season as well as those on show for the last game. He’s back at Chelsea now, but hopefully we can still do something. We’ll have to see.”
Moses proved that he is a Premier League caliber winger but his talent appears to be more suited for a mid-table team like Stoke than a top four club like Chelsea. The Blues took a flier on him a few years ago but it is likely that they will sell him off this summer or in January. Stoke is not a club that is flush with cash but they have shown a willingness to spend when it is needed and Moses would be worth every pound.
