Romelu Lukaku, once thought to be the replacement for Didier Drogba at Chelsea FC, forced a permanent move to Everton FC last summer transfer window. It appears old habits die hard as the Belgian-international is looking to secure another move in the current summer window. Lukaku spent the 2013-2014 season on loan at Everton.
After that campaign, he returned to Chelsea where he quickly realized there would be stiff competition for playing time with the likes of Diego Costa, Loic Remy, and the return of Didier Drogba. The 22-year-old decided to take the easy way out and force his way back to Everton where he would be guaranteed playing time at striker. This proved unsuccessful. Everton whimpered to an 11th place finish in the Premier League, while Chelsea won the title.
Lukaku has amassed 36 goals over 73 appearances for Everton. Now, according to Sky Sports, the 28 million pound man is about to force his way into a side ready for silverware. “I want to win titles, not just be shadowing at the top, I want to know how it feels to play in the big games. I’m 22. It’s time to win trophies.”
It seems to me that if he wanted to win trophies he should’ve remained at Chelsea, but that is just one man’s opinion. Lukaku appears to be very entitled, and his move to Everton has not made him any more humble. A young player with no club loyalty who feels he does not have to put in any work to earn his spot as striker, is a big problem to have.

I’m not sure what he has in mind when he wants to win trophies, as he had his chance at a “big” club, and forced his way out. It won’t be any easier for him to break into the starting 11 of another top Champions League side without putting in the time, showing significant effort, and patience. These squads have serious depth and cannot put up with a largely unproven striker who complains about playing time.
There is no chance he starts over a Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, Robin van Persie at Manchester United, Diego Costa at Chelsea, and the list goes on. Everton manager, Roberto Martinez, must be tired of this from his talented but lazy striker, Lukaku.
According to Sky Sports, his agent Mino Raiola, would not have advised his client to sign for Everton last summer had he been his representative at the time. As questionable as his motivation and guidance may be, Lukaku has the physical strength, size, and talent to be a dynamic European striker.
His ability to score with his head and hold up the ball shows flashes of brilliance. Humility and willingness to learn and show loyalty to a club and its supporters is still lacking. If Lukaku can find a club this summer that is willing to take him on who will challenge for silverware year in and year out, it will come as a surprise, but it is football. Anything can happen.
