Chelsea FC Transfer Rumors: Loic Remy On His Way Out
One of the key figures in Chelsea FC’s Premier League title run was striker Loic Remy. The French international scored several important goals during the season when Diego Costa was out injured or when he came on as a subsitute in relief of the Brazilian.

The three that come to mind most easily are the opener against Manchester City in January, the winner against Hull City in March, and the winner against Stoke City in early April. Without those three goals and the seven points that accompanied them Blues would have still mathematically won the title but it would have been a much nervier final weeks of the season.
After three successful seasons in the Premier League it is understandable that Remy is a striker in demand in England. Reports claim that Swansea City and Southampton are both interested in the striker and may submit a bid for him during the summer window. Crystal Palace has also emerged as a supposed destination as Alan Pardew seeks to revamp the Eagles’ attack.
In most cases it is hard to imagine a player choosing to move from Chelsea FC to more mid-table clubs like Swansea or Southampton but in this case there would be some sense in it. Remy feels that he is good enough to be a regular starter in the Premier League and his performances and goalscoring record back up that point.
He starred for both Newcastle United and QPR before moving to Chelsea and he has proven to be more than capable of leading the line for a club. His desire for playing time will be even more of an issue if Chelsea brings in Colombian striker Radamel Falcao this summer. Remy, along with most Chelsea fans, believe that Falcao would be brought in to back up Diego Costa but not to be the third striker, effectively moving Remy even further down the totem pole.
Other than his major knee injury, Falcao has had a relatively clean bill of health for most of his career. Remy battled through some niggling injuries this season and we are all too familiar with Diego Costa’s fragile hamstrings. So having all three strikers in the Chelsea squad would keep the Blues medical staff very preoccupied for the season. It would also give Jose Mourinho a myriad of attacking options if all three are healthy so the temptation to add Falcao to the squad is understandable.
Still there is the issue of playing time and how to divide it up between three senior internationals in the prime of their careers. Falcao would be the most senior player at the position and he has been a world class player at points in his career, but a poor season at Manchester United has taken some of the shine off him. Remy is a proven commodity at the Premier League level and he has done his part for the Blues in his brief spell here.
Selling Remy to make room for a player like Falcao makes sense on paper but there is obviously much more to it than that. The striker position was a strength for Chelsea for the first time in several seasons and it was the key to winning the Premier League but it appears to be a fragile situation that must be handled with the utmost care.
