Petr Cech’s Chelsea FC Future To Be Decided Next Week

The future of legendary Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech is to be decided next week. The next stage in his career has been hotly debated since it became clear that the position of starting goalkeeper was not his anymore, and it’s a pretty big decision for the man who has played at Chelsea since 2004. If he leaves it will most certainly be strange for CFC fans to see Petr not in Chelsea blue.

Speaking to the press on international duty. the Czech Republic goalkeeper left his options open saying: ‘I all the options, regardless of the country. I will decide based on that for me and my family was the best. And it does not matter whether it is England, Germany, France and Spain.’

The speculation surrounding the big man’s next step has only increased with the close of the season. An abundance of transfer rumors have more or less left him with limitless options as for where he will end up putting his gloves (and hat) come August. Without a doubt Cech’s presence could be valuable for any team looking to bolster their defence and domestically he has been linked with a move to Man United to replace David De Gea should he leave for Real Madrid.

A potential move across London to Arsenal has also been touted as they look to strengthen their back line and bring in one of the few missing pieces needed to reach the top of the Premier League. A transfer to the Gunners would be especially heart-breaking, though. Just imagine the great Petr Cech in Red…I can’t do it myself.

However, his eagerness to get playing time is understandable. Petr has seen the highs of football, and the lows. His presence at the core of Cheslea for the last 11 years alongside John Terry and Frank Lampard has made for some great memories but he is still a top keeper and at 33 years old does has another few seasons left in him.

This want of playing time explains the fact that he doesn’t seem to bothered with moving around the world. Nevertheless, the most likely scenario according to the papers is that we’ll see Petr in the red of Arsenal next year. Should this be the case then Chelsea fans will be forced to have some respect for an Arsenal player, which could take away from the animosity between the clubs.

Seeing Cech leave for another English team would be different then seeing him go across the globe. Looking down the Premier League standings he could undoubtedly help every single team in England. He could even potentially be racing against Chelsea for the title.

While Chelsea fans may not be wholly happy to see Cech keeping out Diego Costa next time around, the club and the supporters alike owe him a great deal, the least of which is allowing him to have a free choice concerning his next club.

But wherever Cech ends up, he will be in the hearts of Chelsea fans forever. Good luck Petr.
