According to Sky Sports sources, Chelsea FC have signed Monaco forward Radamel Falcao in a deal that will be announced shortly. Sky either does not know the full details of the deal or they have simply not been revealed yet but there are plenty of rumors floating around about the intricacies of it.

The first and perhaps most vital is that Falcao will be taking an enormous paycut to join Chelsea and does not expect to be the number one striker. The 29 year old spent last season on loan at Manchester United and endured a terrible campaign where he only scored five goals in all competitions.

On top of that already terrible statistic, Falcao endured what he felt was humiliation by being forced to play for the United U21 team when he was fit. His manager undoubtedly wanted to keep him sharp because he was not playing in the first team  but the Colombian striker took great offense to it.

The other rumored contingencies in the deal are that Chelsea FC will be sending two youngsters on loan to AS Monaco in exchange for Falcao which would be beneficial to both parties. Chelsea get a seasoned striker who, when on form and fit, is one of the best strikers in world football and Monaco get two youngsters to bolster the squad.

There is the added benefit that these Chelsea youngsters will get experience playing in a difficult league against some very good competition. Those youngsters would also hopefully get some experience in the Champions League as Monaco qualified for the qualifying rounds of the competition.

Assuming all the details are worked out and Sky is not blowing smoke then we should expect to hear some official confirmation from either club later this week. The Blues were looking for a veteran striker to replace the departed Didier Drogba this offseason and it appears they may have found one in El Tigre.

Loic Remy’s future is still undecided however and it is unclear how this move would impact his desire to stay at Chelsea. He did win the double last season and was vital in the Premier League title race but he could see this as a reason to move on and become the number one striker elsewhere. Either way, it appears the Blues have added Falcao to the squad and are set to move on to other targets.
