Andrew Bogut- John Terry

If you ask any Chelsea FC fan who the heart and soul of the team was last season, they would answer unanimously that it was John Terry. The Captain, Leader, Legend was a model of consistency despite a tough injury history in recent seasons and has revived his career with the arrival of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge.

Terry suffered under Rafa Benitez and was told that he was no longer a three matches a week player and that he was on the downside of his career. Instead he responded by being the best centerback in England once again and being named to the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. He also scored several important goals for Chelsea on his way to becoming the top scoring defender in the history of the Premier League.

Anyone who knows Andrew Bogut’s career timeline will admit that there are striking similarities between the two. Bogut arrived at Golden State with a lengthy injury history of his own and fans doubted the trade to bring him in the first place, much like those who doubted whether Terry could still perform at a high level after he hit his mid 30’s.

He also had a well-publicized spat with former Head Coach Mark Jackson last season but has been revitalized this year. He provided the rim protection necessary for a smaller team like the Warriors and was chosen for  NBA All-Defensive Second Team for his efforts. His role on offense must not be diminished either as his picks, passing, and rebounding were vital for the highest scoring team in the NBA.
