Chelsea FC Transfer Rumour Round-Up, June 24th 2015
The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. Let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
- The Telegraph reports that Victor Moses could be sent to Stoke City as part of a deal bringing goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to Stamford Bridge. With the winger successfully spending a chunk of last season at The Britannia, Mark Hughes is keen to permanently sign him. ‘Stoke have identified Moses as a priority signing this summer and hope to agree a deal that will guarantee them cash plus the Chelsea winger in return for Begovic.’
- Chelsea’s quest for an additional midfielder continues with Italian site tuttomercatoweb (via The Daily Star) claiming that the Blues have held formal talks with the Frenchman about a potential move to Stamford Bridge. This is another one of those foreign sources via British tabloid rumours, and hence I’d treat this with more trepidation than normal.
- With Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal reportedly set to be tied up by the end of the week, Sky Sports and their ‘Sky sources’ state that the transfer fee has now been agreed. ‘Arsenal have agreed a £10.9m fee for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech according to Sky sources.’ With the amount of money exchanging hands being the most significant stumbling block over the last few weeks, if this is true the deal should be announced probably by Friday.
- Chelsea have joined the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (via The Daily Star). Sources in Germany claim that Jose Mourinho will attempt to challenge Arsenal and Manchester City in a race for his signature. With a supposed £28.7 million asking price for a player that is not particularly needed, do not expect much to come of this.
- The Daily Express carries an article about a potential bid for Serbian winger Andrija Zivkovic. ‘The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge after impressing for Partizan Belgrade…According to his agent, Pedja Djordjevic, Chelsea are among those interested in a move.’ Given that he is only 18 years old, this would seem more like a move for the future in the sense that he would probably be sent on loan should he arrive his summer.
- Lastly, Sky Sports are back with reports that John Obi Mikel wants out of Stamford Bridge after enduring a pretty torrid season last time out. Despite being told that he remains part of Mourinho’s plans, his reduction to a bit-part player has fuelled his desire to move on, with clubs ready to come in. ‘Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates are reportedly interested in signing Mikel, but there has been no comment from Chelsea who refuse to be drawn on speculation over any of their players.’

That’s the rumour round-up for the day. Bear in mind that these are indeed only rumours so take them with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, most of the sources are British tabloid papers which are notorious for making up random stories in order to give their journalists something to do.
Nevertheless in a period starved of any proper football action, what do fans have left to do but speculate? Which one of these rumours do you see as plausible? Which ones do you really want to come true? Get involved and sound off in the comments below!
