Chelsea FC midfielder Oscar has been strongly rumoured to be leaving Stamford Bridge over the last few months, with the press constantly involving him in a potential Paul Pogba deal. His agent, however, has now completely ruled out such a move.

The Brazilian has often been dogged by claims that he is unable to perform consistently for a full season, fading away as the business end of a title race comes knocking. With this, there are many Chelsea fans who want to see him moved on and there have been reports that Jose Mourinho would be willing to sacrifice him should it enable the purchase of a supposedly better midfielder.
However, amidst all this talk, Oscar’s agent has spoken up for the player and has categorically dismissed the notion of him being used as makeweight in a Pogba deal with Juventus.
Kia Joorabchian said: ‘It’s completely impossible and there is no truth to it at all. Oscar will not be leaving Chelsea.’
That’s a pretty emphatic statement from Joorabchian, which may annoy the scores of Blues supporters who want to see Pogba lining up at Stamford Bridge next season.
Having said that, there are many fans who highly rate Oscar, and will be disappointed to see the 23 year old leave Chelsea. They do have a point, too.
It’s as if some critics have forgotten the fact that he is still only 23 years old
While accusations of his durability are probably justifiable, he is still a quality player. A football campaign is long and tiring and there are few players who will not suffer a dip in form at some point. In the grand scheme of things three points in October are going to be as vital as three points in May and Oscar has shown that he can certainly be a game-winner.
Furthermore, he’s only 23 and has just completed his third season in British football. Do people not believe in development or maturity? Oscar is evidently greatly talented and it’s hard to argue that he won’t improve and better harness his abilities as he gets older and more experienced. It’s as if some critics have forgotten this fact. How is a 23 year old supposed to carry a team throughout an entire season?

Having said that, the Brazilian is under contract until 2019 and thus will definitely be worth a few pounds. In this way should Mourinho truly not see him as part of his long term plans, the Blues can potentially cash in big on him. Offering him up as some sort of throwaway in a ludicrous Pogba bid would just be silly. If his time at Stamford Bridge is up, milk him for all that he’s worth.
However, if we believe his agent, Oscar won’t be heading anywhere this summer and with his five year extension only signed last Novemeber, it looks as if the Chelsea brass don’t envisage him leaving either.
‘I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England. I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy,’ said Oscar at the time.
Hopefully this will hold true come September.
