The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. Let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.

  • Petr Cech’s transfer saga continues, with the Czech Republic international supposedly having his medical at Arsenal yesterday, according to The Daily Mail. ‘Petr Cech was having his Arsenal medical on Friday as the final touches to the £11 million move across London from rivals Chelsea were completed.’ The paper also reports that his wage will be in the region of £100,000 per week.
  • Sources in Brazil have confirmed a move to Stamford Bridge for wonderkid Kenedy, claims The Express. The Fluminese forward is highly rated in South America and the Blues have managed to beat the likes of Manchester United to his signature. Fellow newcomer Nathan has also apparently confirmed the signing, tweeting ‘Welcome to Chelsea’.
  • Jose Mourinho’s pursuit of French playmaker Antoine Griezmann will require an ‘extraordinary’ bid, states Spanish football expert Graham Hunter in The Metro. ‘This is a really talented, quick and robust young footballer. The price will have to be extraordinary because neither [Diego] Simeone or Atletico want to let him go.’ Atlético’s massive pile of debt is what should force them to accept a tasty offer.
  • Tottenham Hotspur may hijack Stoke City’s attempts to bring Victor Moses back to The Britannia next season, writes The Daily Mirror. While Mark Hughes is keen to have Moses back on board following a successful spell at the club last season, the forward has reportedly soured on the idea following Tottenham’s interest. ‘The 24-year-old, however, is reluctant [to move to Stoke] as Spurs – who can offer Europa League football next season – have come in.’
  • Lastly, The Express carries an article regarding Mohamed Salah’s future. Chelsea have rejected a supposed £3 million initial bid from Fiorentina, where Salah was on loan last season, and are thought to be holding out for the full £13.5 million as is dictated by a clause in his contract. ‘Chelsea have told Fiorentina they will have to meet the £13.5m clause that was agreed at the start of Salah’s loan spell, and the Serie A club will apparently now meet it.’

That’s the rumour round-up for the day. Bear in mind that these are indeed only rumours so take them with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, most of the sources are British tabloid papers which are notorious for making up random stories in order to give their journalists something to do.

Nevertheless in a period starved of any proper football action, what do fans have left to do but speculate? Which one of these rumours do you see as plausible? Which ones do you really want to come true? Get involved and sound off in the comments below!
