Chelsea FC Transfer Rumour Round-Up, July 1st 2015

The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. It’s the first of the month, so before unnecessarily beating up the guy next to you let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.

  • The Daily Mirror reports that Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is intent on moving to Stamford Bridge. The 28 year old ‘has his heart set on joining Chelsea’ even if it means being number two to Thibaut Courtois and Stoke have accepted this. ‘The Midlands side have now accepted they are losing the battle to hold on to the Bosnia-Herzegovina World Cup keeper’.
  • While on the subject of player preferences, The Daily Mail claims that Atlético Madrid’s Arda Turan is keen to join the Premier League champions as well. ‘Sources close to Turan have indicated the midfielder prefers a switch to west London and having the chance to work with Jose Mourinho is a big attraction for him.’ The only issue seems to be whether the Blues will want to fork out the £29 million that is dictated by his release clause.
  • The Express carries an article regarding the future of winger Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian has been supposedly offered to Barcelona as Jose Mourinho looks to reshape his squad for the 2015/16 campaign. The boss is apparently not too fussed about keeping the player in West London and is looking to ‘arrange Cuadrado’s exit as soon as possible’.
  • Lastly, The Evening Standard claims that Radamel Falcao’s loan move to Chelsea will be announced by the end of the week. The striker has supposedly agreed personal terms that give him £130,000 a week and with his run in the Copa Amèrica now over, the deal can be completed. ‘The 29-year-old has already been instructed to join up with his Chelsea team-mates at their pre-season training camp’.

That’s the rumour round-up for the day. Bear in mind that these are indeed only rumours so take them with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, most of the sources are British tabloid papers which are notorious for making up random stories in order to give their journalists something to do.

Nevertheless in a period starved of any proper football action, what do fans have left to do but speculate? Which one of these rumours do you see as plausible? Which ones do you really want to come true? Get involved and sound off in the comments below!
