The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. It’s the second of the month, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
- Chelsea’s pursuit of Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic is set to get more expensive, according to The Telegraph. The Blues are set to add an additional £2 million on to an initial £6 million bid in order to try and land the goalkeeper. Stoke, though, are likely to reject the offer. ‘Stoke are determined to maintain a stubborn stance, insisting they want one of Mourinho’s players on a season’s loan as part of the deal.’
- The future of Arda Turan has got more complicated. Spanish publication MARCA have claimed that he is close to a €35 million move to Barcelona. Meanwhile The Metro reports that Manchester United are favourites to land his signature, as well as reporting that the player is ‘looking for a house in London’. The Telegraph also carry an article, in which they claim Turan’s agent suggests that there is no deal with Manchester United. I’m sorry, I just have no idea…take your pick really.
- Sticking with Atlético Madrid interactions, The Express states that Blues have set the Spanish club an asking price of £14 million if they want to take left-back Filipe Luis back to Madrid. With reports from yesterday claiming that Mourinho is willing to sell Juan Cuadrado as well, the Blues may just be clearing out the apparent dead-weight from last season.
- The immediate future of Marco Van Ginkel will lay in the north-east, according to The Metro. ‘Reports in Holland say Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Dutch ace Van Ginkel from Chelsea.’ This deal will be for a season-long loan, and will most likely please the youngster, given the lack of opportunities that he’ll receive in the senior squad next year.
- Lastly, The Daily Mirror reports that Loic Remy will not be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer. Despite potentially receiving £15 million for the striker, and strong interest for various clubs including Crystal Palace, Swansea City and West Ham United, the Blues are set to rebuff any offer for the player. With Radamel Falcao’s form uncertain, the club want ‘the insurance of knowing they have an experienced, proven back-up’.
