Chelsea FC Ladies Breaking News: Francesca Kirby

Chelsea Ladies FC have just announced the signing of Francesca Kirby. Fran has just put pen to paper on a 3 and 1/2 year deal and will be available for this weekend’s game against Bristol Academy Womens FC this Sunday, the match to be played at Staines FC with a 2pm kick off.

Fran Kirby joins Chelsea Ladies FC from Reading FC Women, the club she joined as a 6 year old. She has been a professional with Reading since 2012 after spending 9 years with them in her youth career. Last year Fran was named the FAWSL2 Player’s Player of the Year after scoring 29 goals.
Kirby is new to the England setup with just 9 caps to her name but she has scored 3 times in all appearances. She only made 4 appearances for the U23 squad before England coaches realized that she was far too talented to not be playing for the senior squad.
Chelsea Ladies FC manager Emma Hayes said of Fran on the official Chelsea FC website: “We’re delighted we’ve been able to get Fran on board, she is a very exciting young talent and I think she can go on to become a Chelsea great. Our aim is to win trophies here and Fran can play a major part in that for years to come.”
