Chelsea FC Transfer Rumour Round-Up, July 11th 2015
The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. It’s the eleventh of the month, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
- With Marco Van Ginkel’s loan to Stoke City confirmed, and the Potters’ acquisition of Shay Given confirmed as well, all the pieces are falling into place for Asmir Begovic’s move to Chelsea. The Guardian believes as much, with the deal set to be closed imminently for a fee around £8million.

- The Times (via The Express) reports that Atlético Madrid have had a swap deal involving Filipe Luis rejected by the Blues. Atlético manager Diego Simeone is supposedly very keen on bringing the defender back to Spain. ‘He’s a player we’re very fond of and he knows us well and gave so much to the team. I hope this one comes off.’
- Pedro Rodriguez is on the verge of signing for Chelsea, according to The Metro. The Barcelona winger faces an uncertain future at the Camp Nou following the arrival of Blues target Arda Turan, and is apparently close to sealing a £14million move to Stamford Bridge.
- Chelsea will have to drop the reported asking price if they want to sell Juan Cuadrado, claims The Daily Star. The Blues are holding out for a £24million bid, but none of the interested clubs are willing to fork out that much. If Jose Mourinho wants to get rid of him, he will have to take a greater loss on the winger.
- Lastly, The Sun (via The Telegraph) carries news about Mourinho’s frustration over a lack of action by Chelsea in the transfer market so far. With Radamel Falcao the only 1st team player brought in so far, he is apparently pleading with the Blues brass to make more funds available to enable him to land the big stars.
