Chelsea FC’s Jose Mourinho Is Four Four Two’s #1 Manager In The World

Four Four Two magazine has done a countdown over the past few weeks of the best managers in world football. They revealed today, to little surprise, that Jose Mourinho is their pick for the number one manager in the game. Rounding out the top five are Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique, Diego Simeone, and Max Allegri. The other three are understandable considering their extended success but who knew that one great season with players like Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez could vault Luis Enrique so high on these rankings?

Anyway, back to the man of the hour Jose Mourinho. The Chelsea FC manager is coming off a season with a domestic double and a resurgence of a Blues side that went trophyless in 2013-14. It seems that one trophy is a bare minimum these days for any Chelsea side and not delivering one is usually a fireable offense. The club was patient with Mourinho though as they have taken a new approach to the game and are opting for stability at the top rather than radical change.

With Mourinho at the helm, Chelsea looked the best they have looked in years. They played beautiful, free-flowing football early on and buckled down to suffocate opponents when needed to secure their titles.

It is that tactical versatility that separates Mourinho from lesser managers along with his legendary man management skills. No other active manager could compare resumes with Mourinho and come out on top either so he is tops in that category as well.

Four Four Two had this to say of the Portuguese manager:

"“Regardless of the match-up, it is impossible to bet against a manager who has won eight league titles with four different clubs in the last 12 years. For all that ‘philosophies’ are deemed desirable in up-and-coming managers today, Mourinho lives by the one that really counts. His philosophy is purely to win – and he has rarely done anything else.”"

Mourinho has stated time and again that he wishes to be at Chelsea FC for the long haul. He idolizes Alex Ferguson and saw the impact that he made at Manchester United for 20+ years and wants to make a similar impact at Stamford Bridge. Ferguson is hands down the best manager in the Premier League era but Mourinho hopes to one day challenge him for that title.

If he stays at Chelsea FC for the next decade or so he could very well do it. So thank you Four Four Two for confirming what we already knew about our favorite manager, that he is the best in the world.
