Pedro, Alex Witsel, Mohamed Salah: Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours July 16th
The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. It’s the sixteenth of the month, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
- Chelsea’s £22million deal to bring Pedro to Stamford Bridge will be put on hold until after Barcelona’s presidential election, writes The Evening Standard. It is believed that Joan Laporta is a big fan of Pedro, and will block a move should he win.

- The Metro reports that Roman Abramovich is personally pursuing Axel Witsel. The Blues owner has flown out to Russia to meet with the Zenit St Peterburg president Alexander Dyukov Valeryevich in order to negotiate a deal for the highly-rated midfielder.
- Danilo Pantic has confirmed both his move to Chelsea, and a subsequent loan deal to Vitesse, writes The Daily Star. ‘I signed a contract with Chelsea in June but I’m now on loan with Vitesse and I’m very happy,’ said the youngster.
- The Blues will diffuse Fiorentina’s conflict with Mohamed Salah by compensating the Italian club, claims The Evening Standard. Fiorentina apparently paid £700,000 in January to permanently sign Salah, but the winger has since refused to join them. Chelsea will repay the fee and offer them another play on loan instead.
- Lastly, The Express cites The Sun while writing that Tottenham Hotspur have offered one of their youngsters a new contract in an attempt to ward off supposed interest from Chelsea. Spurs are looking to tie down 18-year-old Joshua Onomah on a long-term deal.
