Axel Witsel, John Stones, Oscar: Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours July 19th
The football season may be over, but the transfer season is in full swing. It’s the nineteenth of the month, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
- Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will continue pursuing Everton’s John Stones, writes The Independent. After having a £20million bid for the defender rejected, the boss has said that he is looking to make an improved offer. ‘Until 1 September we can improve the bid, one pound more, 10 pounds more we can improve the bid.’

- The Express claims that Chelsea are demanding Roma’s Alessio Romagnoli in any deal that sends Mohamed Salah in the other direction. Despite other pursuing parties, the Blues may leverage the Italian side’s interest in Salah in order to get ahead of the competitors.
- The Metro reports that Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Axel Witsel worth around £22million. In addition to claims earlier in the week that Roman Abramovich had flown out to meet with the Zenit St Petersburg president, the Blues are now readying a bid in order to finalise the deal.
- Oscar has confirmed that he will be staying at Stamford Bridge, according to The Daily Mail. Speaking in an interview, the Brazilian addressed transfer speculation: ‘I know there has been a lot of talk about Juventus, but I am very, very happy at Chelsea…I want to stay a long time at Chelsea.’
- Lastly, Claudio Ranieri may come back to Stamford Bridge to take Nathan Aké on loan, writes The Telegraph. With interest also coming from Newcastle United, Ranieri will have a job convincing Aké that Leicester City is the best place for him next season.
