What’s that smell? Oh, it’s just the smell of

sub-standard pre-season

football! Chelsea FC are back! Tonight will see them take on the mighty New York Red Bulls in the first of their three stateside pre-season friendlies. With that in mind, here’s all you need to know about today’s fixture.

Chelsea FC v New York Red Bulls, July 22nd

Venue: Red Bull Arena, New Jersey

KO: 8pm ET, 1am BST (23rd morning for our UK friends)

TV: Chelsea TV, Fox Soccer Plus (US), check your country’s listings here

This will be Chelsea’s first fixture since a post-season friendly with Sydney FC back on June 2nd. Having touched down at their Montreal training base a week ago, they should well prepared for this encounter. Check out what Jose Mourinho has been saying ahead of the game here.

Meanwhile, there are still plenty of postions and roles up for grabs ahead of the big Premier League opener against Swansea City on August 8th, so plenty of players will be looking to make an impression on the boss and his coaching team during this tour.
