As much as Asmir Begovic may want to believe otherwise, there really is no debating this one. Thibaut Courtois dethroned Petr Cech and became Chelsea’s number 1 last season, and with the Czech international now in North London, this will not be changing.

Both goalkeepers received playing time in the States, with the first two games being split between the two and Courtois starting and finishing the final fixture. Begovic had a performance that was close to a nightmare on his first time out, with the Blues conceding four goals after he took the field. To be fair, his performance against PSG was almost a polar opposite, but Courtois’s promising run-outs should give Mourinho no reason to tinker with the formula.

Besides, even he probably wants to see the Belgian square off against Cech.
