Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, More!

The transfer season is in full swing, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.

  • Chelsea are set to make another bid for Everton’s John Stones, this time worth in excess of £30million, writes The Guardian. After having bids of £20m and £26m rejected by the Toffees, and after Roberto Martinez has come out in criticism of the Blues, Jose Mourinho is still determined to get his man apparently.
  • Ex-Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne is nearing a deal with Manchester City, reports The Daily Mail. City have been closely tracking the Belgian winger throughout the summer, and at one point were thought to be offering around £50million for him. Now, the club seem confident of confirming a £46m deal before the weekend.

  • Lastly, The Metro claims that Chelsea should announce the arrival of Abdul Baba Rahman imminently. I literally have no idea why I keep writing about this, but after the deal was supposedly delayed due to an inability to negotiate a fee, apparently that’s not case. Ugh, yeah whatever…

That’s the rumour round-up for the day. Bear in mind that these are indeed only rumours so take them with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, most of the sources are British tabloid papers which are notorious for making up random stories in order to give their journalists something to do. Nevertheless in a period starved of any proper football action, what do fans have left to do but speculate?
