Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Van Der Wiel, Higuain, More!
The transfer season is in full swing, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
- The Telegraph report that Chelsea are lining up a move for Gregory Van Der Wiel in addition to the Abdul Baba Rahman deal that they have been trying to close. Citing sources in France, the Blues have supposedly approached PSG over the right-back, seeing him as a replacement for a seemingly declining Branislav Ivanovic.
- Augsburg are believed to be wanting to take Marko Marin on loan, claims The Daily Mail. Although Chelsea have reportedly agreed a fee for the full-back, the German club are now wanting to add Marin to the deal following an injury to one of their players. The Blues should have no issues sending Marin on loan.
- Juventus have reignited their interest in Ramires, according to The Evening Standard. The Italians were initially looking to use Ramires as a makeweight in a potential Paul Pogba earlier this summer, but the Blues failed to act on their interest for the midfielder. Now Juve are set to test Jose Mourinho’s desire to keep the Brazilian workhorse.

- Now here’s something that I certainly don’t believe: Chelsea may put in a £66million bid for Gonzalo Higuain. The Express writes that the striker has said that he wants to leave Napoli but the Italians have inserted a mega £66m buyout clause into his contract. Nothing to see here…
- Lastly, a new name is knocking about. Le 10 Sport (French) claims that the Blues are eyeing up Monaco’s Layvin Kurzawa. The full-back is being viewed as a target in the case that Abdul Baba Rahman doesn’t sign. Manchester City are also interested.

That’s the rumour round-up for the day. Bear in mind that these are indeed only rumours so take them with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, most of the sources are British tabloid papers which are notorious for making up random stories in order to give their journalists something to do. Nevertheless in a period starved of any proper football action, what do fans have left to do but speculate?
