Manchester City 3-0 Chelsea FC: Player Ratings
Chelsea FC fell 3-0 to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, here are the player ratings for the Blues
That was not a fun game for Chelsea FC fans. A 3-0 defeat to Manchester City is not what Blues supporters wanted to see. Sergio Aguero and City were on point throughout the game with gorgeous chances, and even more gorgeous finishes. They dominated a Chelsea team that just looked slow and lackluster.
With that in mind, here are the Chelsea player ratings…
It’s on a scale of 1-10 with 10 representing Lionel Messi, and 1 being Fernando Torres. Players who come on after 70 minutes do not receive a rating due to a lack of playing time.
Starters
GK Asmir Begovic: 8
Chelsea’s best player by far, the only problem was that he could only save so many shots. The score could have been much worse had it not been for Begovic. He is the best backup keeper in England, besides David De Gea, and a great pickup for Chelsea in the transfer window. The goalie position is the only real positive aspect to this game.
DF Branislav Ivanovic: 3
A second straight week where Ivanovic looked slow and out of touch. Sterling gave him the slip multiple times throughout the game and it was kind of depressing to watch. Ivanovic is stronger (which you could make out in the physical battles) but he just doesn’t turn his hips and run with wingers as well as is needed. He was beaten by Kompany for Manchester City’s second goal and to top his day off gave the ball away for the third goal. Overall, it was not a good showing for the Serb.
DF Cesar Azpilicueta: 5
Another week, another game where Azpilicueta wasn’t a threat going forward, and wasn’t a defensive stopper in the backline. The announced signing of Abdul Baba Rahman from Augsburg has gone some way to ease my concerns. I can’t say that he is exactly what Chelsea need, but it is nice to have a left back not named Filipe Luis coming to Stamford Bridge.

DF John Terry: 5
Terry was unable to keep Aguero out of the box or the ball out of the net. His age showed and he was subbed off at halftime with an apparent thigh injury.
DF Gary Cahill: 4
Cahill left me yearning for John Stones once again after a lackluster performance in which Aguero made him look silly. Cahill’s movement has never been extraordinary, but during this game he just appeared to be stuck in the mud.
MF Nemanja Matic: 7
Not a terrible performance from Matic, but was constantly let down by his teammates surrounding him.
MF Cesc Fabregas: 5
Another individual performance from the Chelsea point of view that was disappointing. Cesc didn’t have the energy to keep up with how the game was played. Playing him up the middle didn’t work once again. A physical Premier League clash left Cesc looking out of place.
MF Ramires: 5
Went off like a crazy man when he thought he had scored, before realising that it had been ruled offside. Subbed off and didn’t make too much of an impact.
MF Willian: 6
Average performance from Willian. In a game where Hazard and Costa are expected to control the offence, Willian put in a subpar performance throughout.
MF Eden Hazard: 6
Created some chances, highlighted by a low shot that was saved by Joe Hart. Again, somewhat an underwhelming performance from Hazard. Did enough to justify why he is the best player in the English Premier League, but you were left wanting more because you know that he is capable of more.

FW Diego Costa: 6
Looked more like a child throwing a fit throughout most of the game rather than a world class striker. Costa was nowhere near what Blue’s supporters were hoping for in this game. You can’t fault his effort, there was just little tangible product.
Substitutes
Juan Cuadrado: 4
Continued to look less and less of a player who will make any impact for the Blues during his time in London.
Kurt Zouma: 5
Doesn’t have the experience of Terry with regard to positioning, but cleared some balls away and looked like the young athletic defender that has so much potential.
Radamel Falcao: N/A
Came on for Willian in the 79th minute and underwhelmed. Just after he entered the field City scored and he did nothing for the rest of the game.
