Chelsea FC forward Victor Moses has explained his recent absence
Victor Moses was conspicuously absent from Chelsea FC’s matchday squad on Sunday afternoon. While the Blues fell 3-0 to Manchester City, many fans were wondering why the Nigerian was nowhere to be seen. He provided his alibi earlier this afternoon.

As is the way in the modern world, Moses took to Twitter to explain himself…
Moses was by far the standout Chelsea performer throughout pre-season. He evidently wanted to prove his worth, and did so. He was great going forward and bagged a goal for his troubles too. In fact, there was a handful of pundits and Blues fans (myself included) who were hoping that he may have been handed the surprise start last Sunday.

However, when the teams were announced he wasn’t even on the bench. If my memory serves me correctly I don’t think there was a single TV shot of him anywhere either.
Now, unfortunately this didn’t cause too big of a fuss because well…you know…it’s Victor Moses. Nevertheless, it does seem that he has been hounded enough to take to social media and let us know why he didn’t feature.
Having said that, his excuse is a bit vague and has done nothing but fuel speculation that he may be on the move. Mark Hughes at Stoke City was very keen to turn the winger’s loan move last season into a permanent deal. During the Asmir Begovic transfer saga, it was heavily rumoured that Stoke would only let their goalkeeper go if Moses was sent the other way. Evidently that did not happen but the player’s ambiguous excuse has reignited talk about a move to The Britannia.
Let’s just make clear that this is only speculation, and from people on Twitter too, so there is probably more reason to take his words at face value. However, it is worth emphasising the sheer stupidity that would underline Chelsea allowing him to leave.

The Blues have been shambolic thus far. The only players who have put in acceptable performances are Begovic and Willian. Chelsea have lacked cutting-edge creativity going forward and the basic skills of defending at the back. Given his pre-season run, Moses may well have been disappointed to have been left on the bench against Swansea.
Furthermore, after the 2-2 draw, there was definitely justification for giving him the nod against Manchester City, yet he was nowhere to be seen.
I hate wishing injuries on someone but perhaps this time will have to be an exception. I would much rather he actually be carrying a minor knock than this being some charade covering up a transfer.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
