Chelsea FC have hijacked Manchester United’s bid for Pedro
UPDATE 1: Ok, this particular update doesn’t exactly further the Pedro to Chelsea FC bit, but it’s funny anyway. Sky Sports have reported that Manchester United have switched their attention from Pedro to…
…
Sadio Mane!
Yeah, Mane is not a bad player, but he is no Pedro. Assuming that Chelsea close the deal, this has been another embarrassing day for the red half of Manchester.
In what has been an incredible last couple of hours, it has been widely reported that Chelsea FC have become favourites to sign Pedro.

Pedro has been odds on to move to Manchester United, with just the confirmation yet to come. However, in a crazy Wednesday morning, Chelsea have somehow managed to hijack Louis Van Gaal’s bid and have forced their way to the front of the queue for the Barcelona forward’s signature.
While we mentioned in our rumour round-up that the Blues had reignited their interest in the player, the speed at which the story has since developed is breathtaking.
Currently, reports state that Man Utd have dropped their interest in Pedro, seemingly leaving the door open for Chelsea to complete the deal as is now widely expected.
"Manchester United have dropped all interest in Barcelona forward Pedro amid a reported approach from Chelsea, according to Sky sources. – Sky Sports"
The best bit about this is that what started as a tabloid rumour is now being picked up by major outlets such as Sky Sports and The Telegraph.
There are even journalists stating that Pedro is in London as I write to complete his medical.
While others suggest that the deal between the two clubs has indeed been agreed.
"Chelsea have agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign winger Pedro for a fee of £21m. The 28-year-old, who was a target for Manchester United, is flying to London to finalise terms on the transfer. – BBC Sport"
This would be some coup for the Blues given how done the deal supposedly was to bring Pedro to Old Trafford. Furthermore, given the shocking Blues performances thus far this is exactly what the club needs: a big signing to lift spirits.
A lot has been said about Chelsea’s minimal spending this summer but this will be a huge step towards appeasing the fans who have pinned the terrible start on the lack of activity.
There might be one person, though, who will be less pleased about Pedro’s imminent arrival, and that is Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian has failed to impress since joining Chelsea in January and may find himself on his way out of Stamford Bridge as a result of the Spaniard’s move.
Meanwhile, Roman Abramovich has apparently provided the funds to sign two more players so it will be interesting to see Jose Mourinho’s next move should this deal go through. Rumours this morning link the club with Alexandre Lacazette, while Chelsea’s pursuit of John Stones is still on-going.
However, for the time being we await confirmation of Pedro’s arrival. Be sure to keep it here at The Pride Of London as we’ll bring you any news as soon as it breaks.
