Shortly after making his transfer official to Chelsea FC, Pedro sat down with the club’s official website and answered some of their patented softball questions. You can read the full interview here but we’ve brought you some of the best bits.

Pedro was asked about speaking to Jose Mourinho and he said:

"He is one of the main reasons why I’m here. He phoned me a few times and said he needed me to make the team stronger. He has won titles wherever he has been. I am really looking forward to playing under him and hopefully winning more titles."

Jose Mourinho was one of the reasons for Pedro transferring to the club as it usually is for any players that want to come to Stamford Bridge. Mourinho is renowned for his man management skills and he regularly churns out players that become his acolytes, willing to run through walls for him and in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s case, die for him.

Pedro was then asked of his memories facing Chelsea in the Champions League:

"They were hard matches for us. They were all interesting games but I have good memories from them. The fans never stopped. They always got behind the team. It was an incredible feeling and I want to have that experience as a Chelsea player now."

Those ties had wildly different outcomes, the first with Andres Iniesta and a certain referee who shall not be named robbing Chelsea and the second with the Blues smashing and grabbing a victory after going down to 10 men. Pedro was smart not to bring up the “f@#$ing disgrace” of 2009 but only John Terry remains from that squad anyway. Perhaps he will give Pedro a dunk in the pool as payback for that nonsense.

The club site then asked Pedro about his relationship with his old teammate Cesc Fabregas:

"Yes, I spoke to Cesc. We are very good friends. I knew I would feel at home here and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join. He’s a great player, he’s got brilliant vision and he links up really well with the other attacking players. I know we work well together on the pitch so I can’t wait to play with him again."

It is rumored, and generally accepted, that Fabregas’s wife had quite a bit to do with bringing Pedro to London. She recruited the winger and wooed his wife with her tales of living the high life in London as opposed to somewhere a bit more dull like Manchester.

Pedro also mentioned his familiarity with Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta from the national team but he has never played with them at the club level. Any familiarity however is good news for the club as it will help the winger feel at home sooner than later.

Pedro seemed genuinely excited for his new challenge and his signing has lifted the mood of the club and the fans after a rough start to the season. Hopefully his performance on the field gives us all even more reasons to be excited.
