Chelsea FC Officially Loan Marko Marin To Trabzonspor
Chelsea FC announced today that Marko Marin will be joining Trabzonspor on loan for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. The Turkish club also has an option to buy the winger at the end of the year for a fee believed to be around £3m or €4m for those of you on the continent.

The fee could have been lower and Chelsea FC would still probably have done the deal. Marin was purchased as somewhat of an insurance policy against not qualifying for the Champions League for the 2013-14 season but we all know what happened at the end of the 2012 season.
Since arriving at Chelsea and being a part of the Europa League campaign in 2013-14, Marin has been sent out on a series of loans to less and less impressive clubs. He went from Sevilla where he won another Europa League, to Fiorentina where he rarely played, to Anderlecht where he played a little more but still failed to impress.

Now he will be trying once again to find a permanent home in the Turkish league with an ambitious Trabzonspor side. The club finished 5th in the the Super Lig last season, good enough for the Europa League second qualifying round, but were bounced out by Macedonian side Rabotnički. They do however have some intriguing talents and some former Premier League players on the squad.
Former Hull City striker Dame N’Doye made a £2.2m move to the club and they also feature Chelsea FC cult hero Jose Bosingwa. The Portuguese international had an acrimonious split from his last club Queens Park Rangers and found himself signing a three-year contract with Trabzonspor in 2013.
Moves like Marin’s loan and N’Doye’s signing show the intent that these Turkish clubs have in wanting to boost their profiles. This summer alone we have seen high-profile players like Robin van Persie and Nani move to traditional powerhouse clubs like Fenerbahce but lesser-known clubs have been making splashes as well. Samuel Eto’o signed with Antalyaspor and Kasımpaşa took young Chelsea FC defender Kenneth Omeruo on loan this season.
This move for Marin could very well be the move that he needed to reboot and revitalize his career in a growing league that is spending more and more money on star players. Things may not have worked out for the pint-sized German but he was never a player with enough talent to make it at Chelsea FC. He may yet impress at Trabzonspor but hopefully this will be the last loan move for the winger.
