According to English newspaper Express, Chelsea FC striker Diego Costa met with Atletico Madrid president Miguel Angel Gil to discuss a possible exit. The paper contends that Costa is “hopeful” of a return to Spain and a reunion with Atletico and manager Diego Simeone.

Gil then supposedly called super-agent Jorge Mendes about a return to the Vicente Calderon but he quickly squashed those efforts. According to Express, the only thing that would hold back Costa from returning to Atletico are his massive wages which the club simply cannot afford.
So, is anyone else tired of hearing about Diego Costa being unhappy? These rumors keep on popping up from time to time despite the fact that Costa has never made any comments that would suggest his discontent with his current situation. His career has followed a natural progression from the streets of Brazil, to the Portuguese league, to the bright lights of the Vicente Calderon, and now to one of the biggest clubs in world football.

He is making more money than he could have ever imagined as a youngster and is one of the best players in the world at his position playing for the best club in England and one of the best clubs in the sport. What more could a player want out of his career? He is surrounded by teammates who speak the same languages he does, Portuguese and Spanish, and his manager does as well.
Costa lives in one of the world’s finest cities in London and just won a domestic double. The only trophy that escapes him is the Champions League and he knows as well as the rest of us that it would be easier to win it at Chelsea FC than at Atletico. The striker may feel a bit of longing for the city where he spent seven years but nostalgia does not pay the bills or the wages.
If Diego Costa was insistent on making a move back to Spain then he would have made his demands known to the public and to the club. Right now, he is one of the most important players at Chelsea and there is no reason for them to sell a prized asset and world-class player who is just entering his prime at 26 years old.
The Blues brought Diego Costa to Stamford Bridge in hopes that he would be the next great striker for the club after Didier Drogba. With 22 goals to his name already that plan is very much in effect so we should expect to see Diego Costa in a Chelsea shirt for the foreseeable future.
