Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: John Stones, Zhang Linpeng, More!
The transfer season is in full swing, so let’s take a look at what transfer rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
John Stones
Chelsea have reportedly had their 4th, or 5th, or whatever I have don’t care anymore, bid rejected for John Stones by Everton. Stones handed in a transfer request the other day, but Roberto Martinez and chairman Bill Kenwright have rejected it. They have in turn told Chelsea to take a £37million offer elsewhere as John Stones is simply not for sale. Players being kept against their wishes are situations that inevitably end up terribly, so it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

Zhang Linpeng
Ummm I don’t know who he is either. Seemingly with their John Stones efforts bearing no fruit, Chelsea have turned their attention to an alternative. An alternative from China. Zhang Linpeng is a 26-year-old right-back who plays for Guangzhou Evergrande. He’s a bit like Sergio Ramos, they say, and the Blues are looking to secure him before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.

Kevin De Bruyne
Ok, he’s not strictly a Chelsea player but he is far too associated with the club to leave him out of the round-up. That and I am struggling for stories this morning. De Bruyne is supposedly on the verge of joining Manchester City despite comments by Wolfsburg’s sporting director. The Belgian has been left out off tonight’s game squad with just the finishing touches needed on a £56million bid. Jose Mourinho just can’t believe it.
"Etihad bosses have agreed a £56m fee for the Wolfsburg midfielder and were last night putting the finishing touches to the biggest transfer in the club’s history.Starsport understands De Bruyne will sign a five-year contract worth £220,000-a-week that will see him earn £57m in wages before tax. – The Daily Star"

That’s the rumour round-up for the day. Bear in mind that these are indeed only rumours so take them with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, most of the sources are British tabloid papers which are notorious for making up random stories in order to give their journalists something to do. Nevertheless in a period starved of any proper football action, what do fans have left to do but speculate?
