Chelsea FC Transfer News: Victor Moses Set For Loan, New Contract

Chelsea FC winger Victor Moses may find himself on his way out of Stamford Bridge, albeit on loan, as the club works to break deals ahead of the transfer deadline tomorrow evening.

The Nigerian has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Liverpool and Stoke City, yet Blues boss Jose Mourinho insisted on dismissing all talk about a further move throughout the summer. However, as the transfer window draws to a close, rumours are heating up that Moses may find himself in one of two ‘West’ shirts next weekend.
Sky Sports believe that the winger is on the verge of joining West Ham United by the 18:00 BST deadline on Tuesday.
"Chelsea winger Victor Moses will join West Ham on loan before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, according to Sky Sources."
The Metro, meanwhile, claims that Moses will be headed to the Midlands to join Tony Pulis at West Brom.
"West Ham were believed to be very interested in a move for the 24-year-old, but the Sunday People report that Tony Pulis has identified Moses as a priority target as the Baggies look to pull off some late business."
Either way it seems as though there are a host of clubs interested in taking the Nigerian on loan, and who can blame them?
Moses was Chelsea’s only standout performer during pre-season. He played as if there was a chip on his shoulder and really was the only shining light in a tour that featured some shocking football.

Having spent the previous two campaigns away from Stamford Bridge, it was thought that he would be headed for the exit this summer, but Mourinho repeatedly stated that Moses was part of his plans. His performances in the US did much to justify the boss’ confidence but the winger has failed to feature in any of Chelsea’s four Premier League games thus far.
Given the poor performances of several attacking players, you would think that Moses would have been used at least as a substitute, but that has not been the case and he has been conspicuous in his absence. After not being included in the matchday squad for the Manchester City clash, he gave a pretty vague reason as to why on Twitter.
He hasn’t featured in the two matchday squads since and it now appears as though he won’t feature at all in a Chelsea shirt this season.
While Moses will be a great addition to either ‘West’ teams, the decision to loan him out is questionable. Moses reinvigorated himself at Stoke City last season and could really play a crucial rotation/back-up role for Chelsea this time out. He showed a confidence not seen since he was at Wigan on the US tour but Mourinho has failed to capitalise on it, instead opting to let him waste away.
The good news, however, is that he is expected to sign a new contract before completing a loan deal, according to The Express.
"He is likely to extend his contract at Chelsea which has two years left to run. Moses moved to Stamford Bridge from Wigan for around £9m in 2012."
Given that there are still two years left on his contract, it does appear that the club see a future for him at Stamford Bridge. Hell, perhaps this bit will turn out to be the only rumour that has substance and that Moses will make the starting XI for the Everton game!
That does seem unlikely, though. From the player’s point of view, it is understandable if he tries to force the issue in the next 24 hours as it looks like Mourinho just doesn’t want to use him. The fact that this is the situation is deplorable.
Oh well, maybe Jose will try and recall him midway through the season again.
