Chelsea FC’s Cesc Fabregas 16th Best In FIFA 16, 3 Others In Top 50

Cesc Fabregas is the 16th best player in FIFA 16 while three other Chelsea FC members make the top 50

They might be terrible on the field, but Chelsea FC have managed to contribute four players to the top 50 for the next instalment of EA Sports’ hugely popular football series. Cesc Fabregas is the highest rated Blue revealed so far.

The Spaniard has seen his overall rating improve by two points on the back of his performances last season. Here is his player card for this year’s game.

The passing rating is what really pushes him this high. His score of 90 beats out that of Toni Kroos (88) and Andres Iniesta (87) although both these midfielders are ranked lower overall at 14th and 11th position respectively.

It’s hard to dispute his quality in the passing department. Chelsea fans were treated to a masterful display of ball-spreading by Fabregas last season as he controlled the Blues midfield alongside Nemanja Matic. Admittedly, his form did drop off as the season wore on, but he had already left his mark on the campaign.

While his overall rating has gone up by two, shooting has fallen from 80 to 78. This is given credence by the fact that last term saw Fabregas rack up his lowest goals tally since the 2008-09 campaign.

Furthermore, dribbling has fallen one point to 81. Blues fans have seen, especially in the early part of this season, the Spaniard struggle in forward positions as it is evident that his dribbling skills aren’t what they once were. His pace also receives a one-point downgrade to 68, a consequence of getting older.

However, what will certainly satisfy Chelsea supporters the most is the revelation that Cesc is ranked below his Arsenal counterpart Mesut Ozil. Ozil sits two spots above Fabregas and is inferior in four out of the six sub-categories (pace and dribbling the exceptions). While the German has the same overall rating of 87, there is no doubt given the tragic state of the human race that someone somewhere will use this as ammunition in some petty football argument.

EA are yet to release the top 10, but in positions 50 through to 11, three other Chelsea players also feature. John Terry slots in at 44 with an 85 rating between Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin and Wolfsburg’s Naldo. The captain’s achievement in making the top 50 comes as no surprise after he defied age and played every single minute of Chelsea’s successful Premier League campaign last season.

Thibaut Courtois, meanwhile, takes up the 32nd spot which is quite impressive for a goalkeeper. His rating of 86 means that currently the only goalkeeper ranked lower is

Real Madrid’s

Manchester United’s David De Gea. Diego Costa comes in at 30 with his rating of 86 unchanged from last season.

In terms of yet unnamed Chelsea players, expect Eden Hazard to appear once the top 10 is released on September 4th. Nemanja Matic may also be in with an outside shot of making the top echelon given that he has not featured in the 40 released thus far.
