John Terry – CB – 85
Gary Cahill – CB – 83
Papy Djilobodji – CB – 78
Kurt Zouma – CB – 77

How often do you see a player’s rating increase when he reaches his mid-30s? Captain John Terry went from an 83 to an 85 this season and for good reason. He was the best central defender in the Premier League last season and played every minute of the Blues’ title-winning campaign. Terry has already been substituted off this season but he has maintained his place in in the center of the Chelsea FC defense.

Gary Cahill has also increased two points in the rating system but he has suffered along with the entire right side of the Chelsea defense. Cahill may wind up being replaced this season by Kurt Zouma but it will not be in the virtual world as Zouma was given just a 77 rating. Though that is a three point increase from the Frenchman’s 2015 rating.

Chelsea’s new defender Papy Djilobodji was a 77 last season and seems to have improved by virtue of moving to a bigger club. He has the best physicality rating of the foursome and his pace could see him being used alongside Cahill or Zouma over Terry against quicker forwards.
